Kyle WONG, currently a PhD student in Bioengineering at HKUST, co-founded a Hong Kong start-up PanopticAI with Nick CHIN and Taric CHAN, who are research postgraduate graduates from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics. The company developed a fully remote wellness monitoring app with AI-enabled smart technology.

Waste No Time or Effort Advancing Global Sustainability
Dr. Adetoyese OYEDUN, graduated with a PhD degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at HKUST, makes a positive impact on a real-world problem. His work in waste management has led him to many different corners of the world, from his homeland in Nigeria to the UK, Hong Kong, and Canada, where he is currently spearheading research into new ways to take plastic out of the environment.
Dr. Langston SUEN foresees the ultrasound treatment could benefit up to 80% of the estimated 300 to 500 million retinal disease patients worldwide that require invasive eye surgery every year.
Goodbye to the Terror of Eye Injections
Dr. Langston SUEN and his fellow researchers at HKUST explored an alternative method of non-invasive drug delivery using ultrasound as part of his PhD studies at the University. Now he is working with pharmaceuticals to bring the technology to market. The idea was inspired by Langston’s grandfather and his wife’s grandfather who both suffered from retinal problems that required eye injections.

After completing the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program at HKUST, alumni Donald LAI and Winsor LEE joined Chiaphua Industries Limited, which owns Germagic, an antimicrobial technology that has proved highly effective in the fight against COVID-19.
