To nurture socially aware engineering talents and future leaders with a global vision
Center for Global & Community Engagement
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is an institution determined in its pursuit of both academic excellence and its students’ all-round development. To echo this vision, the Center for Global & Community Engagement (GCE) has been established to generate numerous enrichment opportunities, aiming to inspire our students to achieve personal growth and harness their engineering knowledge and skills to address challenges faced by our community.
Unleash your potential and try your hand at tackling real-world challenges together with your peers
HKUST students from all schools and disciplines are also welcome to join our various student groups to discover their talents. Not only are we actively working with different institutions to create diverse learning opportunities via launching different events, we also promote their activities among our students who are constantly eager to explore.
The MATE International ROV Competition has been organized by the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Centre, in association with the Marine Technology Society’s ROV Committee, since 2002 to engage students in STEM and introduce them to science and technology careers.
The competition aims to encourage students to apply circuit design, mechanics knowledge, embedded software programming, and control theories in various robot to be complete with other team in different events.
Extra support from us to maximize your involvement in eye-opening activities
Besides providing ample opportunities and information to our students, GCE subsidies interested students to join local and international activities through the ACEHK Student Enrichment Grant Scheme to encourage the exchange of knowledge and skills with their counterparts. GCE also encourages students to utilize their engineering knowledge and technology knowhow innovatively in projects contributing to the society worldwide.
