LLB in Engineering and Law Program

Who can participate?

The LLB in Engineering and Law Program is a joint effort between HKUST School of Engineering, and the corresponding units at the University of Exeter, namely:

Department of Engineering
Department of Computer Science (To be confirmed)
School of Law   

Students who wish to apply for it should ideally be enrolled in one of the BEng and BSc programs below:

However, students from other engineering disciplines are also welcome to apply as long as they can devise a feasible study plan. They should consult their major departments and work out the study plan.

The LLB in Engineering and Law Program is offered exclusively for students whose first major program is in the HKUST School of Engineering, and is thus not open to students whose first major is in other Schools.

Minimum Academic Criteria

To apply for the LLB in Engineering and Law Program, HKUST students are required to:

  • have successfully completed the Contract Law course (Students who have not yet obtained the final score of the Contract Law course from the University may receive a conditional offer to the Program)
  • have obtained a cumulative grade point average of 2.85 out of a 4.30 scale by the end of Year 2 at HKUST
  • have obtained an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall (and no less than 6.0 in any section) (See more details on English language requirement below.)

Fulfillment of the above minimum criteria does not guarantee admission. The final decision of admission rests with the University of Exeter.

English Language Requirements

Applicants must meet the English language requirements for admission to the University of Exeter. Besides the IELTS results specified in the above section, other recognized English language proficiency tests (e.g. HKDSE English Language, TOEFL, etc.) are accepted by the University of Exeter.
