Center for Global & Community Engagement
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is an institution determined in its pursuit of both academic excellence and its students’ all-round development. To echo this vision, the Center for Global & Community Engagement (GCE) has been established to generate numerous enrichment opportunities, aiming to inspire our students to achieve personal growth and harness their engineering knowledge and skills to address challenges faced by our community.

MATE International ROV Competition

The MATE International ROV Competition has been organized by the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Centre, in association with the Marine Technology Society’s ROV Committee, since 2002 to engage students in STEM and introduce them to science and technology careers.

Enrichment Grant
Besides providing ample opportunities and information to our students, GCE subsidizes interested students to join local and international project competitions, conferences or professional events through the Student Enrichment Grant Scheme. GCE also encourages students to brainstorm engineering solutions to answer social needs in and outside Hong Kong.
