Bright Future Cup 2025 Inspired High School Students Through Soccer Robotics
Students from 31 high schools engaged in innovative soccer robotics and showcased their engineering skills at the Bright Future Cup 2025, a soccer robot competition organized by the Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers (ABFYE) at HKUST. This year, the group stage qualifying matches took place on June 28 at the Arts and Technology Education Centre (ATEC), with 24 of the 31 teams advancing to the final round, which was held on July 12 at HKUST campus.
This annual competition offers an exceptional opportunity for high school students to engage in design thinking and quick prototyping. Participants form teams to create, build, and program three soccer robots that compete in matches against each other, where they chase a ball and try to score in a specific goal on a modified soccer-like field.
To succeed, participants need to demonstrate their skills in design, programming, robotics, electronics, and mechatronics, alongside effective teamwork. Participating teams are encouraged to share their knowledge with the community and practice good sportsmanship, regardless of their backgrounds, ages, or competition results.
The winners of the competition are as follows:
