The Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers and the Center for Global & Community Engagement of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Hong Kong, co-organized a well-received “STEM for Girls Workshop: Mini Electric Tricycle Workshop” for around 90 girls and teachers from nine primary and secondary schools on December 5-6, 2024.

During the workshop, students began with a brief introduction to electric bicycles, exploring their benefits and drawbacks. They also learned about the main components of an electric bicycle, including the motor, battery, and transmission systems. The highlight of the workshop was the hands-on experience, where students assembled their own electric tricycles, applying the knowledge they acquired. Through engaging tasks and collaborative efforts, students developed practical skills and a deeper understanding of STEM concepts.

Overall, the workshop not only imparted knowledge but also empowered young girls to pursue their interests in STEM. By combining theoretical learning with practical application, the workshop successfully inspired the next generation of female engineers and innovators.
