Description
Specifically tailored to train IC design engineers, this program is designed for professionals and students with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science who are interested in acquiring in-depth knowledge in microelectronic engineering, or upgrade their knowledge in IC design engineering.

Curriculum

Students are required to complete a total of 26 credits of courses, including 4 credits of MSc Project.  Subject to prior approval of the Program Director, students may take a maximum of 9 credits of courses offered by other MSc programs.  For details, please refer to the Postgraduate Program Catalog & Course Catalog

Admission and English Proficiency Requirements

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or Engineering/ Physical Sciences, with second class honors or higher, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or tertiary institution. For English Proficiency Requirements, please refer to HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School.

Program Fee

The nominal program fee for full-time study (either face-to-face or real-time online mode) is HK$155,000 (paid in 2 installments) and part-time study (either face-to-face or real-time online mode) is HK$135,000 (paid in 4 installments) respectively.  

Continuing Education Fund (CEF) 

This program (not applicable to real-time online mode) has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. It is recognized under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level [6]). After 1 April 2019, successful applicants who are HK citizens and are eligible for CEF may be reimbursed with a maximum sum of HK$20,000 upon successful completion of the entire program with an overall attendance rate over 70%. For details and updates of eligibility, application, and reimbursement procedures (in particular the reimbursement period from the date of application), please check the CEF Office or 3142-2277 (24-hour enquiry hotline). 
 
Attention: Effective from 1 April 2019, there will be a series of enhancement measures related to CEF applied to all new, currently valid and closed accounts.

*Applicant who wants to apply for real-time online mode, please select "Master of Science in IC Design Engineering (Online)" under Program Choice in the Online Application System.  Non-local students admitted in real-time online mode (both full- and part-time) do not need student visa.  Students please check with the relevant accreditation authority in your country about the degree recognition.

This program enables students to take up technically challenging positions in the IC related field as well as other highly intellectual and management positions.  Some students also found their startup companies after graduation.
