STEAM Day@HKUST

STEAM Day@HKUST

STEAM Day@HKUST offers an exciting opportunity for participants to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through interactive activities and hands-on experiences. In 2026, activities are organized under the following four categories:

  1. Life and Environment (生命與環境)
  2. Matter, Energy and Changes
  3. Earth and Space (地球與太空)
  4. Science, Technology, Engineering and Society

From thrilling competitions and robot showcases to hands-on DIY corners and fun challenges, there’s something for students, teachers, and the public! 130 activities and programs including Interactive Game Booths / Project Demonstrations,  DIY Corners, Robot Demonstration & Display from University Student Teams as well as STEAM Competition Experience, are designed to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) among more than 5,000 participants throughout the three-day event.

STEAM Tutor Team

STEAM Tutor Team

The STEAM Tutor Team was founded in 2018 with the aim of providing training for undergraduate students from diverse disciplines who are passionate about STEAM. The programme empowers students to apply their knowledge and skills to serve the community. Over the years, STEAM tutors have been equipped with technical expertise and hands‑on experience in designing, developing, and delivering STEAM workshops and activities for school students and the general public.

HKUST - ExxonMobil iSTEAM Program

HKUST - ExxonMobil iSTEAM Program

The program is driven by two core, highly interconnected activities. First, it focuses on the comprehensive training of HKUST university students from various disciplines. Through this phase, the program equips these university students with practical project management skills, alongside hands-on expertise in project design, hardware, and software.

Second, the program empowers these university students to utilize what they have learned to deliver STEAM knowledge to younger generations through a workshop and competition. Serving primary and secondary school students, this event challenges younger participants to work in teams to build, program, and operate robots for strategic missions. By acting as mentors and tutors, HKUST students actively bridge the gap between higher education and youth development, fostering hands-on problem-solving and inspiring the next generation of STEAM innovators.

Android App for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

Three Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) students and Dr. Jogesh K. MUPPALA volunteered their free time to implement an Android App for Médecins Sans Frontières Hong Kong The app was designed to help MSF with their awareness raising and fundraising efforts. The app, featuring support for English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, enables users to access the latest field news, photos and videos of MSF, as well as frontline sharing of MSF field workers. It is available for free from the Google Play store.
