The University’s Microelectronics Fabrication Center, renamed the Microelectronics Fabrication Facility in 1996, Nanoelectronics Fabrication Facility in 2006, and now known as the Nanosystem Fabrication Facility, became the first laboratory of its kind established at a tertiary institution in Hong Kong.

The pioneering central facility supports HKUST faculty members’ research and teaching related to micro/nano devices and systems, as well as providing services to researchers from outside the University.
