High Schoolers Mastered Soccer Robotics at HKUST’s Bright Future Cup 2026
Students from 24 high schools engaged in innovative soccer robotics and showcased their engineering skills at the Bright Future Cup 2026, a soccer robot competition organized by the Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers (ABFYE) at HKUST. The group stage qualifying matches took place on June 26, with 16 teams advancing to the final round, which was held on June 27 at HKUST campus.
This annual competition provides an excellent opportunity for high school students to develop design thinking and practice rapid prototyping. Teams collaborate to design, build, and program three soccer robots that compete in head-to-head matches. The robots chase a ball and attempt to score in a designated goal on a modified, soccer-like playing field.
To succeed, need to demonstrate their skills in design, programming, robotics, electronics, and mechatronics, as well as effective teamwork. All participating teams are encouraged to share their knowledge with the broader community and uphold good sportsmanship, regardless of their backgrounds, ages, or competition results.
