Two School of Engineering (SENG) PhD students were among the eight recipients to receive the prestigious Fulbright-RGC Hong Kong Research Scholar Awards in 2014-2015. The Fulbright awards program is the US Government’s flagship international educational exchange program. It supports PhD students in Hong Kong to conduct research on their dissertation at major American universities and research institutes for a period of six to ten months. The awards are funded by the Research Grants Council (RGC) in partnership with private donors.

The two SENG recipients are:

Cheng Long, PhD student of Computer Science and Engineering. His research topic is on querying processing and mining spatial and social data. He will be hosted by University of Michigan for six months starting from September 2014.

Chi Yan Tso, PhD student of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His research interest lie in the engineering of thermal fluid, particularly, in the fields of sustainable environment, heat transfer, adsorption technology, nanofluids and energy related issues using numerical simulations as well as advanced experimental techniques. He will be hosted by University of California, Berkeley for six months starting from November 2014.
