ECE Graduate Won Two Awards for PiCode Project

2014 Electronic and Computer Engineering MPhil graduate Mr Wenjian Huang has won the "Gold Award for IoT Revolution Concept" in the Hong Kong U-21 Internet of Things (IoT) Awards 2014 organized by GS1 Hong Kong (香港貨品編碼協會), for his project "PiCode: Picture 2D Barcode". His supervisor is Prof. Wai Ho Mow.

In addition, the HKUST entry “PiCode - Create an Era of Invisible Coding” by Wenjian has won the Best Research Award at the Hong Kong-Taiwan IoT Academia Award 2014 (香港-台灣 大專學界物聯網大獎) jointly organized by GS1 HK and GS1 Taiwan. This is the 4th award associated with the PiCode technology developed by Prof Wai Ho Mow's "HKUST Barcode Group".

GS1 Hong Kong’s Hong Kong Internet of Things (IoT) Awards shine on the top performers in terms of adoption and creativity of this major global trend. Taking place for the first time in 2014, the new awards programme aims to showcase innovation in the field, recognise pioneering enterprises and outstanding tertiary students, and support the Hong Kong SAR Government’s long-term Digital 21 Strategy and blueprint for the territory's ICT development.
