With the support of the School of Engineering, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted a three-day training program on the theme of “Scientific Innovation and STEM Education” for around 50 primary and secondary school principals from the Chinese Mainland in January 2026.

The program was organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and supported by the Shaw Foundation. It highlighted best practices in Hong Kong’s education system, effective teaching strategies in STEM education, and the importance of collaboration between enterprises and institutions.

Prof. Tim WOO, Director of the Center for Global and Community Engagement, and Prof. Marshal LIU, Associate Director of the Center for Engineering Education Innovation, delivered lectures on the topics of AI empowerment in STEM education and experiential learning in STEM education in the HKUST context. The principals also had the opportunity to join the HKUST STEAM Day on January 23, an annual university-wide popular science event held on January 22-24, 2026.
