The research team found that despite the number of epitopes encompassing Omicron mutations are nonetheless notably higher than other virus variants, Omicron, like other variants, is still unlikely to escape human's T cell responses.
The new platform, COVIDep, periodically pools SARS-CoV-2 sequence data and compares with experimentally-determined epitopes of SARS-CoV, to provide scientists around the world an up-to-date set of vaccine target recommendations for COVID-19.
