Prof. XIE Yuan Received First Class Prize of Chinese Institute of Electronics’ Science and Technology Award (Natural Science Category)
Fang Professor of Engineering Prof. XIE Yuan, Chair Professor of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was awarded a First Class Prize of the Science and Technology Award (Natural Science category) by the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE).
Titled “High-Energy-Efficient Circuit Characterization and Optimization Methods for Large-Scale Sparse Matrix Computation”, the winning project is conducted in collaboration with researchers in the Tsinghua University and Peking University.
The Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Institute of Electronics is one of the most prestigious ministerial-level accolades in China’s electronics and information technology sector. Approved by the National Office for Science and Technology Awards, it serves as a primary benchmark for academic excellence and original innovation in fields such as integrated circuits and computer architecture.
A First Class Prize in the Natural Science category is particularly competitive, as it recognizes significant breakthroughs in fundamental theory. The selection process is overseen by a panel of the nation’s leading experts, including members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.
