Prof. JIA Jiaya, Chair Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Director of the HKUST Von Neumann Institute, and Founder and Chairman of SmartMore Corporation Limited, won the esteemed EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2025 Award in the technology category. Prof. Jia is one of the 12 winners of this year, who span the industry categories of technology, manufacturing, services and life sciences & health.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) program in the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau. A prestigious business accolade for entrepreneurs, the EOY program aims to honor outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate courage in innovation and resilience against challenges in the new era and to commend those who have made significant contributions to leading China’s private economy.

Prof. Jia is recognized for his outstanding contributions to AI-powered industrial innovation and visionary leadership in transforming SmartMore into a global technology leader. A PhD alumnus of the CSE Department, Prof. Jia joins an illustrious line-up of EOY winners that include fellow alumni Dr. Jack LAU and Mr. Terry TSANG, further showcasing the impact of HKUST trailblazers on the global entrepreneurial stage.
