The School of Engineering achieved significant success at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2025, with faculty, researchers, and students earning top accolades across multiple categories.

SmartMore Corporation Limited, founded by Computer Science and Engineering Chair Professor and HKUST Von Neumann Institute Director Prof. JIA Jiaya, brought home the Award of the Year with “SMore ViMo”, an AI vision model development and deployment platform. The company also won the Grand Award and the Gold Award (Emerging Technologies) in smart business category.

The Kwun Tong Smart Traffic Management System (STMS), a collaboration between the Hong Kong Police Force and the HKUST GREAT Smart Cities Institute (GSCI) led by Dean of Engineering Prof. Hong K. LO, won the Bronze Award (Smart Transport) in the smart mobility category. The GSCI team, together with other parties, also received a Certificate of Merit in the smart mobility category for their area-wide real-time adaptive traffic signals system in Tung Chung.

CipherInsight, a start-up by Computer Science and Engineering Associate Professor WANG Shuai, gained the Bronze Award (Emerging Solutions: Virtual Assets, Payment, Blockchain and AI applications) in the fintech category for its high-performance, privacy-enhancing, data-intensive programming infrastructure.

ArtInSight, developed by a student trio including Computer Science and Engineering undergraduate student LEE Pak-Nin, earned the Grand Award and the Gold Award (Higher Education) in the student innovation category. The winning entry is an AI-powered one-stop art learning platform that aims to deliver a highly personalized and interactive learning environment.
