Engineering Faculty Won Four Awards at 4th Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong

HKUST Engineering research teams won four awards at the 4th Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong (AEII), an annual exhibition cum competition exclusively devoted to innovations and inventions from Asia.

Held on 5-6 December, 2024, AEII was organized by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association, in partnership with Palexpo, Geneva – organizer of the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. The event showcases over 140 inventions and new products from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and Thailand, covering wide-ranging fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, sustainable energy, and medical technology.

In addition, food technology start-up Meat the Next, founded by HKUST alumnus Markus CHEUNG (MSc in Engineering Enterprise Management, BSc in Chemistry), has achieved significant recognition with three awards. These include the prestigious Inventions Geneva Award – The 1st Prize for its odorless soybean breeding techniques, and two Gold Awards for its tiger nut extraction method and again for the odorless soybean breeding techniques.
