Prof. Ping K. KO, former Dean of Engineering and now Professor Emeritus of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, gave an insightful sharing to School of Engineering faculty members on October 23, 2024. Prof. Ko is a globally respected expert in electrical engineering and a visionary venture capitalist. He served as the Dean of Engineering from 1995 to 2000 and was recently conferred an Honorary Fellowship by HKUST in recognition of his distinguished contributions to China’s technological landscape.

In his talk, he shared his amazing life journey from being a student to an academic, from research and development to investment and business. His remarkable achievements in engineering leadership and entrepreneurship served as an inspiration for faculty members to cultivate a mindset of continuous learning, foster creativity, and explore new opportunities. He advised the young generation to spend time in Mainland China and experience it themselves, find their interest and talents and get themselves prepared for a fruitful life ahead, as the future of the country is in their hands.

In appreciation of Prof. Ko’s noteworthy sharing, Dean of Engineering Prof. Hong K. LO presented a tailor-made souvenir to him, honoring his lasting impact on the field and his dedication to inspiring others.
