An article titled “Towards Interdisciplinary Integration of Electrical Engineering and Earth Science” written by Prof. SU Hui, Global STEM Professor and Chair Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was recently published in Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering, a journal covering topics on power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunication engineering. The article was co-written by collaborators of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Abstract:
The inherent differences in epistemologies and research methods in electrical engineering and earth science hinder interdisciplinary collaboration. In the context of climate change, this divide affects the shift towards long-term sustainability in global energy systems, prompting dialogue between the disciplines to enable effective interdisciplinary collaborations.
