Prof Ching W Tang, IAS Bank of East Asia Professor and Chair Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Chemistry and Physics, received the 2017 IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal together with two other professors from the University of Michigan and the University of Southern California for their pioneering work on organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays.

The medal was established in 2002 in honor of Prof Jun-ichi Nishizawa, the Father of Japanese Microelectronics, and is presented to an individual, multiple recipients or a team of up to three who have made outstanding contributions to material and device science and technology, including practical application.
