Two faculty members were honored in the School of Engineering Teaching Excellence Appreciation Award 2014-15. Established 20 years ago, the award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate continuous excellence in undergraduate teaching, foster students’ interest in the subject, promote students’ learning, and more.

Prof Marshal Liu

Prof Marshal Liu, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, received the Distinguished Teaching Award. He is a talented teacher whose course evaluation scores are always record-breaking in the department. Students find his lectures engaging, precise, inspiring and well-organized. He is also a versatile teacher who not only can teach highly technical subjects, but also non-technical ones. He keeps on looking for ways to improve his teaching which shows his passion in teaching innovation. He also sees the good in every student and offers opportunities for them to develop their potential.

Prof Francesco Ciucci

Prof Francesco Ciucci, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, received the Teaching Award. He has been actively involved in undergraduate teaching since joining the School. He designed the University Common Core course MECH1902, which attracts overwhelming class enrolment and receives positive feedbacks from students. He also devotes wholeheartedly in mentoring students, helping them to develop life-time learning skills.
