SENG Welcomes New Research Postgraduate Students
The School of Engineering today officially welcomes new research postgraduate students (RPg) at the PG Orientation held at the Tin Ka Ping Hall in University Center. Over 120 students and faculty members attended this joyful gathering. Organized for the 4th year, the activity aims to help new arrivals to get to know the School, faculty members and their peers better. During the event, Prof Khaled Ben Letaief, Dean of Engineering, and Prof King-Lun Yeung, Associate Dean of Engineering (Research & Graduate Studies), delivered welcoming speeches. Prof Neil Mickleborough, Director of Center for Engineering Education Innovation, introduced the Center’s support and programs tailored for RPg. PhD students were also on stage to share their campus life and personal experience with the new students, including social lives at HKUST, relationships with supervisors, and participation of outreach activities and conference. The event proved to be an enjoyable and memorable occasion for all.
This year, the School is glad to have admitted another batch of over 300 outstanding RPg coming from 26 countries and regions around the world. We believe that the students will add fresh impetus to the thriving research culture of the School and further drive the School to a higher level of research excellence. We will do our best to support our students and we hope they will make full use of the learning opportunities here to get the most of their HKUST journey.
