Global & Community Engagement Program First Hosted Certificate Presentation Ceremony
The School of Engineering’s Global & Community Engagement (GCE) Program creates and facilitates educational and leadership opportunities for students. The Program encourages students to participate in local and international competitions and community services in order to widen students' exposure. In the past year, engineering students have actively participated in different competitions and activities. In order to recognize their achievements, a Certificate Presentation Ceremony by GCE was held on 24 Oct (Wed).
A total of 80 students who had excellent performance in engineering-related competitions and community services last year were presented with certificates in the Ceremony. Following by this was the students’ sharing, which was also well-received. Andreas WIDY (Year 1, Electronic and Computer Engineering) shared his experience on robot design and beyond. Jeff Haoran CHEN (Year 2, Dual Degree Program) shared the road of leading the Aeronautics Interest Group (AIG), a student group at HKUST, to join the International Micro Air Vehicle Flight Competition in Germany. Ryan KOW (Year 3, Civil and Environmental Engineering) shared his story of doing community service in Myanmar for a month.
In the Ceremony, GCE Program Director Prof Kam Tim Woo has also announced the launch of two funding schemes, namely GCE Student Enrichment Grant Scheme and GCE Student Initiated & Organized Projects Fund. Both schemes sponsor full-time undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students to join the local and international activities.
