Title
Overview
Description
Materials Engineers explore the fundamental structures, design, and processing of materials for real-world applications. The most critical skill of materials engineers is to develop a quantitative understanding of the structure and properties of materials from different length scales and then innovate methods to manipulate materials to meet the specific needs of modern technology.

The Master of Science program in Materials Engineering (MATE) aims to cultivate next-generation materials engineers based on the substantial education and research infrastructure on advanced materials, a core area of HKUST that has earned a global reputation. The program also leverages on the university's strengths in artificial intelligence and soft matter, preparing students with integrated, updated materials-engineering training for career opportunities in broad industries.
