A total of 175 teams formed by HKUST faculty, students and alumni, as well as members from other local and overseas institutions had joined the 12th edition of the competition beginning in March despite the fifth wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
PanopticAI developed an AI health monitoring app using the camera on a smartphone or tablet to monitor the user’s vital signs such as heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure etc. A pilot scheme has been deployed to 10 to 20 elderly homes across the city.
The entrepreneurship success of the School of Engineering (SENG) members was recognized with six out of 18 start-ups in the “Unicorns HK 2021” shortlist being founded or co-founded by SENG faculty or alumni.
