SENG Honors Long-Serving Staff for 35 and 30 Years of Commitment
The School of Engineering (SENG) held a heartwarming Long Service Award Ceremony to honor engineering faculty and staff members who have dedicated 35 and 30 years of service to HKUST. This event was organized on June 3, 2026, preceding the University-wide Long Service Award 2025 Presentation Ceremony on June 4, 2026. The gathering created an inviting atmosphere for SENG’s senior management and staff to celebrate with the long-serving award recipients.
This year, the School recognized 21 long-serving staff, including two who have served 35 years and 19 who have served 30 years.
In his welcome remarks, Dean of Engineering Prof. Hong K. LO expressed his heartfelt gratitude to colleagues for their three decades of commitment and loyalty to HKUST. He celebrated their courage and vision of choosing HKUST in the 90s and seeing its potential, noting that their dedication has been instrumental in shaping HKUST’s growth and success from its inception. He emphasized that for these long-serving staff, the University has evolved beyond a mere workplace into a community where they truly belong. “It’s basically our home,” he said, adding that their tireless efforts and loyalty served as an enduring example that will continue to inspire the university community and future generations.
Prof. Lo, together with Department Heads and senior management of the School, then presented the long-serving staff with a commemorative gift, a beautifully crafted crystal globe encircled by a wooden frame. Each of the frames was engraved with the staff’s name, symbolizing their far-reaching vision grounded in strength and enduring dedication.
Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed refreshments and took the opportunity to reconnect and exchange congratulatory messages, providing a delightful wrap-up to the event and fostering a sense of camaraderie and appreciation.
