In a dynamic showcase of international collaboration and idea exchange, the 35th International Conference on Adaptive Structures and Technologies (ICAST 2026) took place at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from June 1 to 3, 2026.

ICAST is a series of esteemed conferences that began in 1990 as a collaborative USA-Japan event held in Maui, Hawaii. Over the past three decades, ICAST has taken place at various venues across North America, Asia, and Europe. ICAST 2026 marks the 35th iteration of this successful series, aiming to unite researchers on a wide array of topics related to smart and adaptive structures.

Under the leadership of General Chair Prof. YANG Zhengbao from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, ICAST 2026 welcomed 75 esteemed scholars representing nine countries and regions. Over the three-day conference, participants immersed themselves in a comprehensive program that included plenary sessions, keynote talks, poster presentations and an award ceremony. Beyond the academic discourse, they also explored HKUST’s premier research facilities and savored the cosmopolitan vibrancy of Hong Kong.
