Co-organized by the Center for Global & Community Engagement and the School of Business and Management, a sharing session featuring Miss Vivian SIU, FIA Formula 4 Racer and Gold Medalist for Hong Kong China Team, was held on November 29, 2024, at the HKUST campus.

Miss Siu is a trailblazing race car driver from Hong Kong who made history as the first woman to complete the Formula 4 race in the Macau Grand Prix and as the first female FIA Formula 4 driver in China (including Hong Kong & Macau). She also won the first gold for the Hong Kong China team in the 2023 FIA Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship.

HKUST students were impressed by the amazing story from Miss Siu, who holds a full-time position as Director of Hedge Fund Origination Sales at UBS and transformed from a driving novice to being the first woman to finish the Macau Grand Prix in Formula 4 within a span of six months. Following the sharing was a fireside chat, moderated by Prof. DUAN Molong, Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and joined also by two Year 3 undergraduate students from the HKUST Red Bird Racing Team – Marco LEUNG (Electronic and Computer Engineering) and Louis CHENG (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering).

Miss Siu’s story inspired HKUST students to pursue their dreams, both on and off the racetrack.
