Prof. Yoonseob Kim has made significant progresses in polymer materials for energy and other applications since joining HKUST.

Prof. Yoonseob KIM, Assistant Professor from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, has been selected a 2024 Early Investigator by the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) for his work on solid electrolytes.

The ACS PMSE Early Investigator title is among the most honorable recognitions that junior faculty members can receive in the fields of polymer and materials. Only 24 individuals were selected and Prof. Kim is one of the few awardees from outside the United States.

A symposium highlighting the honorees’ work will be held at the 2024 Fall ACS National Meeting to be held in Denver, Colorado.

Prof. Yoonseob Kim and his team develop advanced solid electrolytes for next-generation energy storage applications, including batteries and generation devices such as fuel cells. Their primary focus is to make solid-state and single-ion-conducting ionic covalent organic frameworks (iCOFs) for all-solid-state Lithium metal batteries.
