HKUST and HKUST(GZ) Joint Student Team Won Four Awards in HKIE’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Tertiary Institution Innovation Project Invitational Competition
A joint team of HKUST and HKUST(GZ) undergraduate students brought home four awards in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Tertiary Institution Innovation Project Invitational Competition on March 9, 2024. The event was organized by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
The competition aimed to deepen corporation and exchange among engineering institutions in the Greater Bay Area. It invited engineering students from higher education institutions in Hong Kong and the Mainland to form teams and compete in designated tasks at a field using self-designed and modified remote-control cars and robotic arms.
A total of 20 Hong Kong and Mainland higher education institutions formed 10 teams and competed in the final competition that took place at the Beach Volleyball Court of South China Athletic Association.
The four awards of the HKUST and HKUST(GZ) joint team are:
- First Runner-up in the Most Creative Remote Control Car Design Award
- First Runner-up in the Most Eco-Friendly Remote Control Car Design Award
- Second Runner-up in the Highest Sandcastle Award
- First Runner-up in the Best Teamwork Award
The joint team comprised five students from HKUST and five from HKUST(GZ), all at undergraduate level. They are:
