Cyrus LEUNG Tin-Long (2022 BEng in Civil Engineering) received the Grand Prize at the 2021-2022 Best Final Year Project Competition, organized by the Civil Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).

The competition aims to recognize civil engineering undergraduates who have completed outstanding final year projects that help promote and advance technologies and innovations in the civil engineering industry. The prize-giving ceremony was held on August 9 at the HKIE headquarters.

Cyrus’s final year project, entitled “LiDAR Data Annotation Platform for Traffic Monitoring” and supervised by Prof. WANG Yu-Hsing, created a data annotation platform to support the development of AI models for LiDAR-based traffic monitoring. The platform improves the existing LiDAR annotation software by providing the ability to construct datasets for object tracking in addition to object detection. The speed and flow can be computed directly through modeling the path of each project with the datasets.
