The 6th Robot Design Contest was held on 24th November 2014 which marked a great beginning of 2014-15 HKUST Robotics Team!

Every year, HKUST Robotics Team recruited new members through a challenging design contest. In 2014, over 200 students from the School of Engineering, School of Science, and School of Business and Management signed up for it. The HKUST Robot Design Contest was also truly international, featuring participants from 16 countries and regions. This great diversity enabled students from different background to learn from each other positively through achieving a single goal.

As robotic techniques were new to most of our contestants, senior members in the team conducted a series of high-quality tutorials on Electronics, Mechanics and Software to help them get better prepared. Thanks to voluntary contributions from these senior members in the whole process, from designing game rules to working as contest judges, all training teams built their robots and demonstrated successfully in the 6th Robot Design Contest at the Atrium.

All training team members showed great potential in technological innovation and strategic planning in this Robot Design Contest. Congratulations to the winning teams:

The Center for Global & Community Engagement (GCE) expressed heartfelt appreciation to RS Components Ltd for sponsoring prizes to the Champion team. RS’ partnership with HKUST Robotics Team started in 2011 in sponsoring electronics components and equipment for several robotic competitions. With their support, the Robotics Team members demonstrate their talents in robot design with the appropriate and reliable components.
