HKUST Engineering Ranks No. 15 in the World

According to the just released QS World University Rankings by Faculty 2014 – Engineering and Technology, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has continued to shine and was ranked No. 15, its highest ever position in this league table. HKUST made an impressive jump of 4 places from No. 19 in 2013 and has been No. 1 in Hong Kong for 5 years in a row.

HKUST was placed 15th and is ahead of UCLA (20th), Tokyo Institute of Technology (22nd), Princeton (27th), and Cornell (34th). Three other local universities also made to the top 50, with positions ranging from 40th to 49th. The rankings draw on the academic and employer surveys, as well as citations data.

Dean of Engineering Prof Khaled Ben Letaief said, “We are extremely pleased to see our profile raised further in leading engineering rankings. The School has attained tremendous accomplishments so far and this newly released ranking attests to the distinction of our work. We shall continue to strive for excellence by driving transformative higher education and world-changing research.

The exceptional achievements of HKUST Engineering have been consistently and widely recognized by various renowned international rankings. The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2014 published in February have seen HKUST ranked within the global top 30 in all five fields in the Engineering and Technology area. The School will continue to uphold excellence and achieve greater global impact in innovation, research and education.
