Prof Hoi Sing Kwok Won 2013 SID Slottow-Owaki Prize

Prof Hoi Sing Kwok has won the 2013 Society for Information Display (SID) Slottow-Owaki Prize.

The Slottow–Owaki Prize is awarded for outstanding contributions to the education and training of students and professionals in the field of information display. The award is made by the SID Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee.

The citation for the prize will be “For providing education and training in display technology to many students and professionals in the Asia region through the creation of a display research center”.

Prof Hoi Sing Kwok is the Dr William M W Mong Chair Professor of Nanotechnology at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering. He is also a Director of the Center for Display Research at HKUST.  He works in the area of display technologies and thin film science. He has over 600 referred publications and holds more than 80 patents. He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and a Fellow of SID. He is also an elected member of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials. Prof Kwok was awarded the HKUST School of Engineering Distinguished Research Excellence Award in 2011.
