HKUST ranked No.1 again in Hong Kong in Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences
Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2010 saw HKUST ranked No.1 again in Hong Kong in its list of the World’s Top 100 Universities in Engineering/ Technology and Computer Sciences. The University has held this position since the field rankings were first published in 2007.
Ranked at 39, HKUST is ahead of Harvard (42nd), Tsinghua (45th), Columbia (47th), Oxford (49th), McGill (52-75th) and Yale (76-100th).
Ranking indicators include alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, Highly Cited Researchers, articles indexed in Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Science Citation Index, the percentage of articles published in the top 20% journals of the field as well as engineering research expenditure.
In addition, HKUST is ranked the best in Greater China in ARWU in Computer Science. The University attains the No.26 position in 2010, up 1 place from No.27 in 2009.
Among all the ranking indicators, HKUST has made especially great improvements in the percentage of papers published in top 20% journals of Computer Science fields.
