Prof Fugee Tsung The Only Hong Kong Scholar Elects American Society for Quality Fellow
Prof Fugee Tsung, Acting Head of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management Department, has been elected Fellow of American Society for Quality (ASQ) on November 13, 2009 - the highest honor of the organization in recognition of his significant contributions to quality.
ASQ is the largest professional association and the leading authority in the world on quality improvement, quality control and certification in all fields including manufacturing, education, healthcare, the service sector and government. ASQ has more than 100,000 members worldwide. So far, there are only four ASQ fellows in the Greater China region. Prof Fugee Tsung is the only scholar in Hong Kong elected as American Society for Quality Fellow.
Prof Tsung is elected as the ASQ Fellow for his truly outstanding academic achievements in the field of quality and his professional activities spanning many years and without national boundaries. He is dedicated to promoting educational programs and application projects throughout Asia.
Prof Fugee Tsung is full professor and acting head at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management (IELM) at HKUST. He is also an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and an ASQ Authorized Six Sigma Master Black Belt Trainer.
Founded in 1946, ASQ has been the sole administrator of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program Award since 1991. ASQ participation and influence in international standards includes ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO26000, and other popular standards.
