Prof. WANG Yu Received Scott Sloan Best Paper Award
A research paper written by Prof. WANG Yu, Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and his collaborators at Wuhan University, Prof. LIU Xin (one of his former PhD students) and Prof. LI Dian-Qing, received the Scott Sloan Best Paper Award 2023 from Computers and Geotechnics.
The Scott Sloan Best Paper Award, named in honor of the late Prof. Scott W. Sloan, a world-renowned geotechnical engineer, aims to recognize top papers published by Computers and Geotechnics that have made a significant impact on the field of geotechnical engineering. The evaluation of impact is based on both the citations of a paper over the past five years and strong recommendations from the editors. A total of 10 research papers were selected this year.
Published in 2019, Prof. Wang and his collaborators’ paper on “Investigation of Slope Failure Mode Evolution During Large Deformation in Spatially Variable Soils by Random Limit Equilibrium and Material Point Methods” investigates the effect of soil spatial variability on the evolution of slope failure modes during large deformation using random material point method.
