SENG Students Recognized by 2025 Kerry Holdings Limited Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Award
The presentation ceremony for the 2025 Kerry Holdings Limited Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Award on April 23 saw 10 outstanding HKUST undergraduate projects recognized, including a majority from the School of Engineering (SENG).
Notably, LIU Runsheng from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) claimed the championship and Best Poster Award for his project on “GAInS: Gradient Anomaly-aware Biomedical Instance Segmentation”. His supervisor is Prof. CHEN Hao, who also supervised another CSE student’s project that earned a Second Runner-Up Award.
Launched in 2005, the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is a signature program at HKUST that enables undergraduate students to engage in academic research. The UROP Awards were first presented in 2010 to honor students with outstanding performance in the program.
In addition to recognizing the students, the faculty supervisor of each student awardee is also presented with a UROP Faculty Research Award in recognition of their mentorship for the student.
