Engineers are creators who convert ideas into papers and then turn them into reality to serve the community better. My father is an engineer who builds the railway infrastructure and because of this, I was deeply impressed by how engineering can make a world of difference since I was a kid. When I was in high school, I was determined to choose engineering as my ambition and decided to nurture my career development at HKUST, one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
HKUST has a beautiful campus, surrounded by incredible views of mountains and sea. HKUST Engineering has a rich course catalog and research facilities so I can study different topics at my will to strengthen my engineering foundation in my first year. After the foundation year, I decided to select Civil Engineering, which inspired me to build a more sustainable infrastructure by minimizing environmental impact, enhancing social benefits, and ensuring economic viability for our community in response to the challenge of climate change.
HKUST is not just a place of studying but also a place with numerous opportunities for me to develop a colorful university life. I took part as a leadership team member at AIESEC in HKUST. This experience has allowed me to cultivate leadership skills outside the traditional academic environment. Through engaging with global issues and fostering cross-cultural connections, I connected with all sorts of people from different backgrounds, which broadened my worldview. Managing projects and organizing events has fostered my personal development, equipping me with both hard and soft skills.
HKUST is a wonderful university. If you are passionate about engineering and looking for a fruitful university life, then HKUST is definitely the right place to be. Hope to see you all around in the future!
