LANG5030 English Communication for Postgraduate Engineering Studies
LANG 5030 is a one-credit English for Academic Purposes course specially designed to assist postgraduate students in addressing linguistic challenges while pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) program in engineering. It aims to enhance students’ academic presentation, discussion and writing skills. The intended learning outcomes are as follows:
- Students can participate actively and express their ideas effectively in discussions
- Students can convey their ideas clearly in presentations and writing
- Students can recognize the concept of plagiarism
- Students can demonstrate understanding of academic referencing skills in their writing
Who should apply?
- Students who attended a non English-medium university for their undergraduate studies
- Students who would like to learn how to write an academic paper in English
- Students who would like to improve their skills in giving English presentations on an academic topic
- Students who would like to learn or maintain their discussion skills in English
- Students who would like to practice spoken English through class activities
- Students who would like to learn how to make use of resources provided by the University to enhance various English language skills
