I have always dreamt of being an engineer since secondary school, and I would have prayed for days and days to get into engineering. When I know I could be studying in HKUST engineering, it was a dream come true. So far, my life in HKUST has been nothing short of amazing – HKUST has provided me with ample opportunities to grow intellectually and develop my global mindset, from the countless opportunities to learn and develop and the vast amounts of international students in HKUST to interact with.
As an engineer, our job is to solve problems. In today’s world, problems have been increasingly multi-disciplinary, requiring knowledge and integration from different fields. For example in Hong Kong, one of the most heated issues nowadays is how to achieve carbon neutrality, which requires effort not only in engineering but also in planning, science, business, and so on and so forth. HKUST engineering school provides a lot of resources in this regard, not only on the technology side from frequently providing seminars and courses on current and future renewable energy developments but also on other aspects such as sustainability, marketing and promotion endeavors, etc. HKUST engineering encourages inter-disciplinary thinking, which will prove to be an enormous asset for students in the future.
Overall, I would say it is a life-changing experience studying at HKUST. I could always learn something new every day and HKUST never ceases to amaze me.
