PhD Alumnus won Electrochemistry Fellowship

Alumnus Dr Wenjing Zhang, graduate of PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in 2009 and MSc in Material Science in 2005, was recently awarded the reputable Oronzio de Nora Industrial Electrochemistry Fellowship 2010 by The Electrochemical Society, an international non-profit and educational organization for solid-state and electrochemical science and technology founded in 1902. The award, in the form of a US $30,000 fellowship for one year, is given to a postdoctoral scientist or engineer for research in the field of industrial electrochemistry. The award is granted to one recipient on an annual basis and is twice renewable based on successful research progress as judged by the award’s committee. Dr Zhang is currently a faculty member of Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in Vanderbilt University in United States. During her doctoral years at HKUST School of Engineering, she was under the supervision of Prof Ping GAO, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The Electrochemical Society has more than 8,000 scientists and engineers in over 70 countries worldwide who hold individual membership, as well as roughly 100 corporations and laboratories that hold corporate membership. The Society aims to advance the theory and practice of electrochemistry, solid-state science, and allied subjects; to encourage research and dissemination of knowledge in these fields; and to assure the availability of adequate training and education of fundamental and applied scientists and engineers in these fields. Announcement about the award will be made in a Society publication that is distrusted to all members.
