Prof Michael Yu Wang Appointed Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering
Prof Michael Yu Wang, Founding Director of the HKUST Robotics Institute and Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Electronic & Computer Engineering, is appointed to be the next editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (T-ASE) for a 5-year term starting from October 2016.
Published by IEEE Robotics and Automation Society since 2004, T-ASE covers new abstractions, algorithms, theory, methodologies, models, systems, and case studies that can be applied across industries to significantly advance efficiency, quality, productivity, and reliability for society. Its acceptance rate is under 15% and impact factor is 2.696.
Prof Wang joined HKUST in 2015 in his current positions. His research focuses on robotics and control, particularly in the interdisciplinary study of robotics, automation, structural optimization and additive manufacturing. He obtained his PhD in Carnegie Mellon University and served on the engineering faculty at University of Maryland, Chinese University of Hong Kong and National University of Singapore before coming to HKUST. He is a Fellow of ASME, IEEE and HKIE and was internationally recognized by many awards, including ASME Design Automation Award and State Natural Science Award (Second Class) of China.
