Kelvin Leonardo
Hey! I am Kelvin from Indonesia.
Having grown up in Indonesia, coming to Hong Kong is an adventure to me, filling me with hopes and expectations on what I will learn and achieve here.
Compared to Indonesia, Hong Kong is a fast-paced city. Well, people could even get mad if I spend more time putting money in my wallet at the cashier! It was definitely a culture shock for me. Learning to keep up with this pace of life turns out to be a positive change for me, as I do need some push and motivation from my peers to grow and improve. People here do not slack around, especially students in HKUST. They are competitive, but in a good way. In my peer group, we often help each other in understanding course materials.
I was also humbled when getting to know some extraordinarily talented and hardworking individuals around me. Especially in the Engineering School, I am always in awe of those people who are already knowledgeable in their fields, even though they have only spent one or two years in the University studying them. Aspiring that I could also be one of these outstanding and well-versed people someday, it fills me with determination!
