How would my university life be like? I bet that is the critical question for all of the incoming freshmen. Is it fully occupied with heavy workload and studying? Will I encounter a lot of talented peers and maintain good friendships? Can I strike a balance between courses and extracurricular activities? What should I major in? There is no absolute answer to these questions, and the only solution is to create your own experience. It may not directly answer your questions, but this is my biggest realization from experience in HKUST so far.
Three years ago, I entered HKUST and embarked on my brand-new journey in this beautiful campus, which is just located on the cliff where students can enjoy spectacular mountain and ocean view. Inside the campus, knowledge and creative ideas are communicated and raised every second among professors and students from different majors and backgrounds. Especially in the School of Engineering, students with strong and solid technical background must be able to completely showcase themselves through knowledge exchange, hands-on opportunities and plenty of competitions.
To provide juniors a wonderful university life, strong connections and solid career development, I joined the Engineering Student Ambassador program to promote HKUST in a wider perspective. As a Data Science and Technology student, I hope to welcome our juniors to the warm community of the School of Engineering, helping to filter out their best major based on their current “data”, and accompanying them in creating wonderful university memory and achieving successful career pathways.
