Hi there! My name is Budi Ryan. I am a Chinese - ethnic Indonesian student studying my favorite major in an awesome University, HKUST. Some of you might ask how "Ryan" became my surname. As a matter of fact, it is not. I have a Chinese surname which was not recorded in my Indonesian passport and hence my student ID in HKUST. Although I am ethnically Chinese, I am more comfortable speaking English or Indonesian rather than Mandarin. This is also one of the reasons why I chose to study in Hong Kong or HKUST to be more specific - to further my studies in Mandarin Chinese!

To be honest, initially I did not have much information about the School. I was strolling around the education fair at my high school when I encountered HKUST's booth. The ambassador at that time showed me that HKUST is globally reputed and how it nourishes diversity. I became more interested when I heard HKUST also offers programs like research, internships, and exchange to allow their students to broaden their horizon. After considering a lot of options, I eventually applied to this University.

After living in Hong Kong and studying at HKUST for a period of time, I would say I do not regret my decision studying in this university. Both the lecturers and my fellow schoolmates have been very welcoming. I am looking forward to more exciting experiences with HKUST's School of Engineering!
