Tommy Hyun Ho

Hi there! My name is Tommy Kim, currently enrolled as a Computer Science major at the School of Engineering. I come from a country called South Korea, but studied in India for about 9 years. It’s an honor to be part of the Engineering Student Ambassador 2018-19 program and I hope I can help as many people as possible during my term of service.

To describe my experience studying at HKUST - I feel this university offers tons of opportunities for students to delve into their academic interests. Whether it’s the School of Science or School of Humanities, students can freely choose their courses regardless of their designated major. This allows individuals to be more diverse and open-minded, bringing positive impact to the quality of life in HKUST.

My passion is to pursue Bioinformatics by combining Computer Science with Biotechnology. With priceless knowledge earned at HKUST, I would like to impact our society by bringing in new technologies to prevent lethal diseases such as Cancer and Coronary heart diseases. By developing software tools to understand biological data, I wish to study how our cellular activities are altered at different disease states, thereby determining a comprehensive image for meaningful purposes.
