Hello! I'm Lia, an Indonesian engineering student of HKUST.

Determining what I want to do in life was indeed stressful for me. To be honest, I don’t particularly have something I’m really passionate about, so I always envy people who do. However, since I was a kid I have always been bothered by problems on Earth. Every time I watch the news about environmental impacts or even experience it myself, I am motivated to make a change.

Then I found out about a job called an engineer. It sounded tedious to me at first, but after getting to know about what engineers do, I finally found the dream job that I had been looking for. What an engineer can do is exactly what I dream to do – I aspire to contribute to the Earth and I believe I can do that best by becoming an engineer.

My experience in the past year has helped me learn about the variety of opportunities that HKUST offers for us to grow as future engineers. The rest is up to us, are you down to grab those opportunities? I know how it feels to be terrified by the pressure to get out of one’s comfort zone -that is why I’m here to help. Thus, I'm looking forward to talking about these opportunities with you.
