I believe engineers are those who shape the world and this started when I was a child. Unlike my peers, I always opted for television programs on Discovery Channel and National Geographic, instead of those Marvel superhero blockbusters. I have always been fascinated with the working principle of the cutting-edge innovations shown in those programs and the state-of-the-art technologies incorporated inside. Question marks are always popping up in my head while watching those shows. The questions range from the working principle of the engines of an A380 Airbus to the possible benefits from solar panels or the latest wind farms. On top of that, what catches my attention the most is how those groundbreaking ideas change our planet, bringing us to a more advanced and convenient world. Looking at the trailblazing engineers shaping our world into a better place sowed the seeds of my desire to become an engineer, who can create and innovate, in the future.

It has always been my dream to be become an engineer, hence making an impact on our world. Researching state-of-the-art technologies is one of the stepping stones to make my dream come true. Entering HKUST provides a great atmosphere for research since it is one of the top flight research institutes worldwide. Consequently, the outcome of the research can be applied in our daily life and benefit our society. On top of that, HKUST opens the door for me to reach various precious opportunities and to develop different skills which are of paramount importance. Through joining the enrichment activities in HKUST, I was able to sharpen a wide range of skills, by stepping out of my comfort zone and challenging myself, hence realizing my potential and becoming better in the future.
